Our Children Have Dropped Out of School - Wife of Jailed Denkyira Assemblyman

Yaa Ampofowaa, the wife of the former Assemblyman for Denkyira-Obuasi who was imprisoned for the murder of Major Maxwell Mahama, has revealed that their children have had to leave school.

She explained that her husband, William Baah, was the main provider for the family, and his incarceration has disrupted the education of their three children.

Since her husband's arrest following the incident on May 29, 2017, Yaa Ampofowaa said they have struggled to make ends meet.

Adding to their distress, she mentioned that her children frequently ask about their father's whereabouts. As a single mother now relying on day-to-day work, Ms. Ampofowaa expressed that the income she generates is insufficient to send the children to school.

She also acknowledged that without the support of her husband's family, life would have been extremely difficult for the children. Yaa Ampofowaa believes that a reduced sentence for her husband would bring some relief to the family.

At present, the former Assemblyman is among 11 others serving life sentences for the murder of Major Mahama.
