Challenges of Implementing New Policies

During an interview on JoyNews on February 14, Avedzi highlighted the time required for new ideas to materialize and the necessity for ministers to familiarize themselves with their portfolios before effecting substantial policy changes. With just nine months until the next election, he expressed skepticism about the feasibility of introducing new policies amidst the existing operational dynamics and impending campaign intensity.

In terms of the Finance Ministry, Avedzi advised the incoming minister to meticulously study the tax policies to identify avenues for enhancing revenue without unduly burdening taxpayers.

He proposed a comprehensive review aimed at modifying and possibly eliminating certain taxes to relieve the populace, stressing the importance of broadening the tax base while reducing tax rates to encourage compliance and minimize the burden on current taxpayers.
