Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu Resigns as Majority Leader
The Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for the Suame constituency in the Ashanti region, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has officially resigned from his position as the leader of the majority caucus in Parliament.
Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu voluntarily offered to step down during a meeting of the NPP caucus in Parliament and the Executive, which included President Akufo-Addo, according to sources from Myjoyonline. The Deputy Majority Leader and MP for Efutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, will now take over the leadership role.

The decision comes after tensions arose between the caucus and the executive over potential reshuffling of the majority caucus leadership. This move sparked resistance from First Deputy Speaker Joe Osei-Owusu and others who were content with Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu's leadership.
Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Bagbin emphasized the importance of party involvement in appointing caucus leaders, stating that parties with representation in Parliament should have a say in the leadership selection process.
The National Council of the NPP is scheduled to discuss this development during its meeting on Friday.
