I Will Scrutinize Any Suggestion From EC Before Accepting or Rejecting - Dr. Omane Boamah

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vocalized his intention to thoroughly review any proposals put forth by the Electoral Commission (EC) before making a decision.

In an interview on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen on Wednesday, January 31, Dr. Omane Boamah reaffirmed the NDC's unwavering determination to secure victory in the December 2024 elections.

Uncompromising Commitment to Electoral Integrity

During the interview, Dr. Omane Boamah underscored the NDC's resolute approach, emphasizing that the party refuses to approach the upcoming elections with complacency. He highlighted his dedication to delivering exemplary results for the NDC, asserting that he is focused on ensuring meticulous attention to detail rather than offering mere excuses.

Dr. Omane Boamah remarked, "We will not go into the 2024 elections with the business-as-usual attitude. I didn’t take up this job to joke...I want to make sure that every T is crossed, and I is dotted."

Critique of Electoral Commission and Proposal Rejection

Furthermore, Dr. Omane Boamah expressed disapproval of the EC's proposed change in the voting date for the national polls from December 7 to November. He articulated the NDC's opposition to this proposed alteration, citing concerns about the lateness of such a significant change. Additionally, he criticized the EC commissioners, alleging incompetence and lack of attentiveness to crucial electoral matters, contending that they have failed to demonstrate the seriousness required during an election year.

He highlighted missed opportunities for collaborative action, stating, "We have informed them (EC) at IPAC to form a special committee to clean the voter's register, but it has fallen on deaf ears because it’s not of importance to them."

Continued Objection to Electoral Date Change

The NDC has continued to oppose the proposed shift in the election date by the Electoral Commission, voicing its willingness for a potential alteration in the 2028 general elections rather than in the upcoming 2024 electoral cycle.
