High Court Charges Two Suspects With Conspiracy in J.B. Danquah Murder Case


The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, revealed in a parliamentary address on Tuesday, February 20, that two individuals had been arraigned before the High Court on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and murder in connection with the tragic killing of the late Abuakwa North MP, Joseph Boakye (J.B.) Danquah-Adu.

According to the Attorney-General, the accused engaged in a series of robberies on the night of February 8, 2016. Following a disagreement between them, one of the accused individuals left, while the other proceeded to the residence of the late J.B. Danquah on February 9, 2016. The sequence of events led to a fatal confrontation where the late MP lost his life due to multiple stab wounds inflicted during a struggle with the first accused.


Detailing the somber turn of events, Mr. Dame highlighted that during the night of the incident, the late MP was alone in his room when the accused entered. 

A violent altercation ensued, culminating in fatal injuries to J.B. Danquah. The struggle resulted in injuries to both the deceased and the first accused, who absconded with the late MP's mobile phones post the confrontation.

The prosecution in the case has presented a total of eight witnesses, progressing towards the culmination of the trial. Key testimonies, including that of the investigating officer, have shed light on the events leading up to and following the tragic incident. 

The defense has been actively cross-examining witnesses, with the most recent testimony from the investigator taking place on February 20.
