GRA Wants To Tarnish My Reputation - Cheddar
The founder of New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has come out in denial of allegations of tax evasion levied against him by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
In what became a headline in state newspapers, Mr. Bediako faced scrutiny for purportedly failing to file personal income tax returns from 2013 to 2016, resulting in a fine of GH¢50,000. Subsequently, despite clearing a sum of GH¢209,171 between 2018 and 2020, he allegedly missed filing returns for the post-2020 period.

Moreover, the GRA's estimations for the years 2021-2022 indicated substantial tax assessments, along with penalties due to his alleged failure to file personal income tax returns.
In response, Mr. Bediako dismissed these claims, asserting that the GRA's actions were a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation and inflict public disgrace upon him. Expressing disbelief, he underscored that he has been consistent in meeting his tax obligations and had dedicated over two decades to contribution toward the country's development. Taking to social media on January 18, 2024, he vehemently denied the tax evasion allegations, emphasizing his commitment to fulfilling tax responsibilities punctually.
Offering a rationale, Mr. Bediako pointed out that given his regular importation of goods into the country, any act of tax evasion would have been easily identified to date. He further emphasized his prompt payment of taxes, even when facing high tax income. Expressing dismay at the GRA's public stance, Mr. Bediako questioned the motives behind the overt publication of his photos in connection with tax evasion, proclaiming his resilience despite what he perceived as attempts to discredit him.
