PUBLIC NOTICE: Shops And Other Establishments In Accra To Close For Clean-up Exercise On Saturday


The Accra Metropolitan Assembly is set to celebrate its 125th anniversary. With regard to this, the assembly has ordered that all establishments including shops, market centers, lorry stations, and others be closed for active participation in a clean-up exercise for the celebration. 
The exercise is scheduled to take place on Saturday from 6am to 10am with the aim of improving the cleanliness within the city.

Not only is the exercise marking the celebration, but, it is also to serve as a preparation for the funeral rites of the late Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru III.

This clean-up exercise is scheduled to commence at 6 am to 10 am on Saturday, the 21st, and is also in preparation for the final funeral rites of the late Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru III. According to the AMA, the focal areas for the exercise are the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) stretch of Palace Street and the Rev. Thomas Clegg Memorial Methodist Church to Department of Social Welfare stretch of the Nii Asere Ayite Road in the Okaikoi South Sub-Metro.

Other areas that will be targeted include Chorkor (Old Winneba Road), Korle Bu Traffic Light to Mamprobi Post Office (Guggisberg Avenue) in the Ablekuma South Sub-Metro, First Light area in the Ayawaso Central Sub-Metro, and the Achimota Overhead to the Lapaz intersection (George Walker Bush Highway) in the Okaikoi North Sub-Metro. Hence, all business activities within these premises are expected to be halted during the exercise. 

In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Gilbert Nii Ankrah, the AMA has urged all residents to participate actively in this clean-up exercise. The success of this exercise is dependent on the collective efforts of all residents.
