Dumsor Has Been Resolved - Deputy Energy Minister Assures

The fix to the ongoing power outages in Ghana has been announced by Deputy Energy Minister Andrew Egyapa Mercer. He promised Ghanaians that starting on Thursday, January 11, 2024, their homes and businesses would have continuous electricity supplies.

That same day, Egyapa Mercer declared as much in an interview with Citi Breakfast. In response to questions about the government's debt to Independent Power Producers (IPPs), the Deputy Minister disclosed that $10 million had been paid for gas supplies to the West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo) by the Ministry of Finance. This financial assistance demonstrates the commitment to provide Ghanaians with a steady supply of electricity.

On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, the Electricity Company of Ghana had announced planned maintenance to improve service delivery. The maintenance work was scheduled between 8 am and 5 pm and was expected to affect areas such as Achimota, Taifa, Achimota Brewery Company, Instyle Industries, IKAM, Asene Household, Neoplan, Tantra Hill, Dome, Abofu, Apenkwan, Nii Boye Town, Chantan, and Paraku Estates.
