The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle brought attention to a crucial matter concerning the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) in a news release on Wednesday, January 10. The GNPC is presently encountering difficulties fulfilling its payment commitments to the West African Gas Pipeline. Gas is transported by this pipeline from Takoradi to Tema in order to generate electricity.

According to Mr. Buah, the GNPC's inability to fulfill its financial commitments to the West African Gas Pipeline is a primary factor contributing to the widespread power outages experienced in various parts of the country. In light of these disruptions, he emphasized the need for a clear load-shedding timetable to empower households and businesses to plan effectively.

"The lack of transparency and communication regarding the power outage schedule only adds to the frustration and inconvenience experienced by the affected population," Buah stated. He also highlighted that even during the worst periods of Dumsor in the past, the power outage never reached the 500-megawatt threshold currently being shed, yet the media associated with the NPP interestingly see this as no 'Dumsor.'
