Fuel Shortage Causing Power Cuts - IES
Nana Amoasi VII, the Executive Director of the Institute for Energy Security (IES), has attributed recent power cuts in Ghana to a shortage of natural gas required to run electricity plants.
According to him, although the power plants in the western corridor are operational, the challenge lies in transporting natural gas from the western corridor to the eastern corridor.
In an interview on Citi FM's Eyewitness News, Nana Amoasi VII emphasized that the power plants are ready to work but are facing a fuel shortage, specifically natural gas. He explained that the West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo), responsible for transporting the natural gas, has halted operations due to unpaid dues from the government.
