In his critique, Mr. Mahama condemned the President's comments as "unfortunate," illustrating what he perceives as a tendency for Akufo-Addo to issue partisan statements. Indeed, Mr. Mahama took to social media, specifically X (formerly Twitter), to remind President Akufo-Addo of his constitutional obligations, referencing Article 36, clause 2(d) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

President Akufo-Addo has openly shared that his government consciously disregarded development efforts in Ekumfi due to the electorate voting out Francis Ato Cudjoe from Parliament in the 2020 elections. This revelation was made during an interaction with traditional leaders from the Ekumfi constituency at the Jubilee House. The President voiced his discontent with the voting pattern and the constituents' decision to remove Ato Cudjoe despite appointing him as Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture to spearhead development in the region.

In response, Mr. Mahama firmly criticized the President, highlighting what he views as a recurring pattern of making partisan statements that seem to contradict the President's oath to serve impartially as stipulated in the constitution. Mr. Mahama emphasized the need for adherence to constitutional tenets, specifically underscoring Article 36, clause 2(d), in a bid to underscore the President's responsibilities.
