AFCON 2023: “I take responsibility” – Chris Hughton on Draw With Mozambique

Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations campaign is in jeopardy following a disheartening 2-2 draw against Mozambique, leaving the Black Stars in a precarious position. 

The team squandered a two-goal lead in the final minutes, casting doubt on their chances of advancing from Group B.

The result has left Ghana in 3rd place in the group with just 2 points, making their prospects of progressing to the next stage uncertain. Coach Chris Hughton took responsibility for the team's performance, acknowledging that the results have not met expectations. 

However, he refrained from resigning, possibly due to the slim chance that the Black Stars could still qualify for the knockout stage.

Currently ranked 5th among the 3rd place teams, Ghana's hopes hinge on other results. For them to progress, Zambia, Algeria, and Cameroon all need to lose their final group games. Cameroon faces Gambia, Algeria takes on Mauritania, and Zambia plays against DR Congo.
