Ghana is on the Verge of Economic Breakthrough - Akufo-Addo

Highlighting the strides being made, President Akufo-Addo mentioned the strategic partnerships forged by the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) for the construction of a new alumina refinery and the development of mines at Nyinahin-Mpasaaso as part of the Integrated Aluminium Industry (IAI) projects.
The President expressed pride in the recent agreements signed in Accra, signaling progress in the bauxite sector. He emphasized that these partnerships will mark the end of exporting raw bauxite from Ghana, as the country gears up to refine its mined bauxite to produce alumina for domestic use and export to the downstream aluminium industry.
Anticipating a significant impact on industrialization, President Akufo-Addo underscored the importance of producing components for various sectors, including automotive, aerospace, construction, and household goods. He emphasized that this shift will create employment opportunities and enhance value addition across the bauxite/aluminium value chain.
While Ghana has been navigating economic challenges and seeking IMF assistance, President Akufo-Addo reiterated the importance of staying committed to the bailout program. The IMF has stressed the need for Ghana to implement structural reforms effectively to maximize the program's benefits and overcome revenue shortfalls.
