I Will be Visiting Ports Soon to Root Out Corrupt Activities - Amin Adam


Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has announced plans to visit various ports across the country to root out corrupt activities following numerous reports of malpractice involving port officials.

Dr. Amin Adam expressed concern over the high perception of corruption within the ports and trade sector, noting that revenue losses are attributed to the actions of clearing agents, shipping companies, and some customs officials. He emphasized the need to address these issues to enhance revenue generation and support critical projects in Ghana.

During a meeting with the Commissioner-General, Dr. Amin Adam stated his intention to personally assess the situation at the ports by engaging with officials on the ground. He urged the Ghana Revenue Authority to collaborate with other sectors of the economy to curb revenue leakages caused by practices such as misdescriptions, misclassification, and invoicing discrepancies.

He reiterated his readiness to address any challenges hindering revenue collection and urged stakeholders to reach out for assistance in combating corruption and improving financial outcomes for the nation.
