Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha, Passes Away at 63
On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha, a former minister of youth and sports, reportedly passed dead. The Herald newspaper reported that Dr. Ahmed Mustapha passed away from a chronic ailment that had been plaguing him for a number of months.
After Mahama Ayariga resigned in 2015 amid controversy over the budget for the Africa Cup of Nations competition, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha took over as Ghana's minister of sports for eight months. Prior to becoming the Minister of Sports, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha served as a National Democratic Congress (NDC) representative for the Ayawaso East Constituency in parliament from 2001 to 2013.
The Herald also revealed that Dr. Ahmed Mustapha was a retired military officer and a dentist who practiced at the 37 Military Hospital. Additionally, he established and managed a dental clinic in Maamobi, Accra. He is survived by his wife and three children.
