Andre Ayew Was my Childhood Idol - Fatawu Issahaku


The Black Stars captain Andre Ayew is someone Ghanaian international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku said he looked up to growing up. 

Sharing the field alongside his childhood hero, the Leicester City winger said, was an absolutely incredible experience.

In a September 2021 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Zimbabwe, Issahaku made his debut for the national squad with a 3-1 victory. He was impressed by Ayew's love and commitment to the game, saying that he always wanted to be like his hero, in an interview with the official media of Leicester City Football Club.


Reflecting on the opportunity to play alongside Ayew, Issahaku said, "It was so amazing to be on a field with him. It was a great feeling to meet him. The most exciting part was when I went there, he guided me. He started to give me advice about the game and how to improve."

Currently on loan at a Championship side from Sporting CP, the talented Ghanaian has been making an impact in English football, scoring two goals and providing eight assists in the second tier.
