Akufo-Addo Set to Announce Imminent Ministerial Reshuffle
According to reports, President Nana Akufo-Addo met at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 9, and is now poised to announce a major reshuffle of ministers.
In response to public pressures that have been building for months, the president is anticipated to make significant changes to his ministerial appointments.
The impending reorganization follows the resignations of Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen, who left to concentrate on their political campaigns. According to insiders, the significant reorganization was purposefully postponed until after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary and presidential primaries were concluded.
Sources reveal that the primaries, which took place on January 27, were timed to spare the affected ministers from potential emotional distress in case of defeat while transitioning to new roles. Originally planned for December, the reshuffle was postponed to February after the NPP's internal elections to prevent unsuccessful candidates from attributing their loss to the president.
In a recent move, 24 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) were dismissed, with 26 replacements appointed as part of efforts to rejuvenate the system. This decision reflects President Akufo-Addo's commitment to addressing the needs and aspirations of his ministers, underscoring his dedication to building a cohesive and efficient government.
The anticipated changes are poised to bring fresh perspectives, new expertise, and improved efficiency across the ministries involved, signaling a proactive approach towards enhancing governance effectiveness.
