NCA Unveils 5-Year Strategic Plan Covering 2024-2028
In a significant move aimed at charting a visionary course for the telecommunications landscape, the Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, presided over the launch of the National Communications Authority's (NCA) Five-Year Strategic Plan (2024-2028).
The event, held at the NCA Tower on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, marked a decisive step in setting forth a roadmap for the Authority's future endeavors.

The impetus behind developing this comprehensive plan, as outlined in the NCA Act, 2008 (Act 769), is to establish clear objectives and measurable strategies for the Authority to adhere to. During her keynote address, the Hon. Minister emphasized the pivotal role of the NCA in ensuring regulatory efficacy, especially in the midst of evolving technologies and a swiftly changing digital landscape.
She voiced her confidence in the strategies outlined in the plan, envisioning a conducive environment that promotes homegrown solutions to compete on the global stage.
Dr. Joe Anokye, the Director General of the NCA, emphasized the dynamic nature of the Electronic Communications Industry, emphasizing the need for continual innovation and adaptive strategies to seize new opportunities and confront challenges. He highlighted the significance of the Five-Year Strategic Plan as a crucial milestone in fostering innovation, growth, and sustainable impact within the Authority.

The Board Chairman of the NCA, Okatakyie Ababio Boakye Danquah II, expressed his satisfaction with the launch of the Strategic Plan, which delineates the vision set during the Board's inception. He underscored the plan's significance as a blueprint that unveils untapped potential within the communications sector, urging collaborative efforts to realize the plan's objectives by 2028.
Prof. Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng, Deputy Director-General for Technical Operations, shared insightful highlights of the Strategic Plan during the launch. He emphasized the NCA's commitment to excellence, innovation, and inclusivity, identifying four strategic pillars that encapsulate the plan's core focus areas.
* Pillar 1: Structure and reposition research, innovation, and process improvement throughout NCA to be abreast with industry development by 2028
* Pillar 2: Build coordination and collaborative structures for enhanced engagement by 2028
* Pillar 3: Develop and Empower human resource by 2028
* Pillar 4: Optimize current resources, diversify, and develop new areas of growth, including revenue.

In addition to unveiling the Strategic Plan, the NCA repositioned its mission statement to reflect its aspiration to transition from a good to a great regulator—an innovative, agile, professional, and proactive entity, adaptable to emerging changes in the communication and digital ecosystem, and dedicated to delivering optimally to all stakeholders.
The internal launch of the Plan for the NCA's Staff Members on January 12 further demonstrates the Authority's commitment to inclusivity and effective implementation. This latest development signifies a promising trajectory for the NCA, reflecting a collective outlook on fostering innovation, growth, and inclusivity within Ghana's communications sphere.
