Criticism Against the Incumbent MP
The sentiments against the incumbent MP are fueled by a perceived lack of significant developmental progress throughout his tenure, spanning almost 12 years. The constituents highlighted the absence of crucial infrastructure and services, including poor road networks, inadequate market facilities, and sanitation challenges, illustrating their frustration with what they perceive as the MP's neglect of their pressing needs.
Call for Change and Supporting Candidate
In response to their discontent, the supporters have rallied behind Mr. Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, the Controller and Accountant General, as a potential candidate whom they believe could address their concerns effectively. They outlined Mr. Bosompem's proactive role in education, health, and employment, citing his contributions, particularly in the construction of a 12-unit classroom block for Swedru SHS and road infrastructure projects.
The constituents stressed the urge for meaningful change, emphasizing their desire for more substantial progress and better representation in addressing critical issues such as employment and flooding in the area. They lamented the lack of responsiveness from the incumbent MP to their pleas and emphasized the need for a candidate who actively addresses their community's pressing needs.
Concern heightened as market women in Akim Swedru voiced their frustration, pointing to the MP's alleged neglect in addressing the deplorable condition of the local market, which poses challenges, especially during adverse weather conditions. The lack of response to their appeals and unfulfilled promises have compounded their disillusionment.
