Corruption has Infiltrated the Music Industry - Reggie Rockstone

Reggie Rockstone, a pioneer of hiplife, has exposed what he sees as widespread corruption in the music business, bringing particular attention to the rumored practice of musicians buying internet streams in order to manipulate their audience numbers.

In an interview on Property FM in Cape Coast, Reggie Rockstone voiced grave concerns, pointing out that many musicians might not be truly deserving of the impressive streaming figures they brag about, but rather are participating in what he called "streaming farms"—a practice that aims to artificially inflate streaming figures through a variety of means.

The renowned 'Me Na Me Kae' crooner was unequivocal in his remarks, calling for a thorough discussion to address the corruption seeping into the music scene. He emphasized, "the huge number of streams some musicians get are sometimes not genuine because they have streaming farms. The corruption that has infiltrated into music nowadays is a whole topic for another day that we need to discuss."

Furthermore, Reggie Rockstone indicated that the creators of popular digital streaming platforms, such as Spotify, are reaping significant profits to the detriment of the musicians. He pointed out that the revenue generated from these platforms predominantly benefits individuals from other parts of the world, suggesting that it is not fairly distributed among the artists.

They’re really spending our money, and they always find a new way to rip, so we have a lot of things that we have to look at."
