AFCON 2023: Majeed Ashimeru Will Be Fit for Match Against Mozambique - Chris Hughton

Ghana's national team, the Black Stars, are gearing up to face Mozambique in their final group game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with hopes of securing progress to the next round of the competition. 

There were concerns about the fitness of Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru after he sustained a knock during the game against Egypt last week. However, Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has expressed confidence that Ashimeru will be ready for the crucial encounter.

Speaking to the press ahead of Monday's game, Hughton confirmed that "the signs are good" for Ashimeru's availability. He mentioned, "We are still assessing him, but the signs are good, he will train with the team today (Sunday), but the signs are good that he will be fine.

" The coach also acknowledged Ashimeru's impactful performances in the competition so far and highlighted the importance of having him available for the game against Mozambique.

Ashimeru has started both of Ghana's group games in Ivory Coast but has yet to complete a full game against Cape Verde and Egypt. His potential availability for the upcoming match against Mozambique is seen as crucial for the team's success. The game against Mozambique is scheduled for Monday, January 22, with kickoff at 8:00 pm.
