President Akufo-Addo to Deliver State of the Nation Address to Parliament Tomorrow

President Nana Akufo-Addo is gearing up to present the State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, in adherence to the constitutional mandate outlined in Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

Article 67 requires the President to annually update the nation via Parliament at the commencement of each session.

The much-anticipated SONA is poised to cover a wide array of sectors, including security, governance, education, health, infrastructure, and the ongoing fight against corruption. President Akufo-Addo's speech is expected not only to provide insights into progress across these domains but also to outline the government's strategic goals for the year ahead while shedding light on initiatives to address the current economic landscape.

In a prior announcement earlier in February, the then Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, formally disclosed the President's imminent parliamentary address, emphasizing the significance of this constitutional requirement: "H.E the President will deliver to the house a message on the State of the Nation on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Honourable Members are entreated to avail themselves for the task ahead.”

This upcoming address holds particular importance as it marks one of President Akufo-Addo's final speeches to Parliament before the conclusion of his term. It serves as a pivotal moment to reflect on the nation's current state and preview the government's agenda for the remaining tenure.
