John Mahama Proposes Overseas Deployment for Ghanaian Nurses to Combat Unemployment

During his visit to the Savannah Region, Mr. Mahama addressed student nurses, emphasizing the importance of creating job opportunities for nurses upon completing their education. To implement this proposal, he recommended the establishment of a specialized unit within the Ministry of Employment responsible for recruiting qualified nurses for international deployment.
If elected, Mr. Mahama pledged to significantly reduce unemployment rates, especially in the healthcare sector. He stated, "We want to increase the production of health workers and nurses, and we will employ them to work for us as many as we can, but at the same time, we will sign agreements with other countries where we can post our nurses to go and work on fixed contracts."
Under his administration, he plans to set up a unit under the Ministry of Employment dedicated to recruiting nurses and ensuring they meet the required standards for working in international hospitals.
