John Mahama Nominated for 2024 African Heritage Awards Alongside Some African Leaders


Ghana's former president John Dramani Mahama has been added to the esteemed group of African leaders who have been nominated for the 2024 African Heritage Awards (AHA). 

George Weah, the former president of Liberia, and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), are two of the notable nominees. Prominent individuals like Mama Rachel Ruto, the First Lady of Kenya and the founder of Mama Doing Good Origination, and Robert Smith, the Chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners in Texas, USA, are also listed.


Other notable nominees include Strive Masiyiwa and his wife, Adebayo Ogunlesi, Professor Thulisile Nomkhosi Madonsela, Prime Minister Victoire Tomegah Dogbe of Togo, Folorunsho Alakija, Othman Benjelloun, and Madam Graca Machel, among others.

The African Heritage Awards celebrates outstanding achievements of Africans in various fields including business, politics, philanthropy, entertainment & arts, culture, science & technology, and social innovation. The 2024 edition is expected to be chaired by former President of Botswana, His Excellency Sir Seretse Khama Ian Khama, and will be attended by former Heads of State and industry leaders from across Africa.


Organisers of the event aim to promote African excellence, Afrocentrism, and create an ecosystem that highlights the continent's true potential. The recognition and awards play a crucial role in showcasing the achievements of Africans both within the continent and in the Diaspora.
