Implementation of Emissions Levy Act Commences Today

The Emissions Levy Act, 2023 (Act 1112) will go into effect on Thursday, February 1, 2024, according to a statement released by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The government's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions is reflected in the Act, which places a tax on internal combustion engine cars' carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.

By encouraging the use of green energy and eco-friendly technology, the implementation seeks to enhance environmental management and reduce pollution of the air and water.

The ghana.gov portal is the only way for those who are required to pay the emissions levy to complete the registration process and make their payments. Furthermore, owners of vehicles are urged to fulfill their commitment by paying the Act 1112-specified levy.
