Peseiro acknowledged the superior performance of the host nation, stating, "Our team had a fantastic tournament but today Cote d'Ivoire were better. They had a very good game. We didn't show our level."
Highlighting the lack of individual quality in their performance compared to previous matches, Peseiro commended his players for their efforts throughout the tournament and their desire to win the trophy for Nigerians.
Having last claimed the AFCON title in 2013, Nigeria had hoped to secure victory in Abidjan but fell short in a disappointing defeat.
