On Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Regional Coordinating Council in Cape Coast, there was an incident where a group of about fifteen people allegedly attacked Mr. Kobbena without any reason at all while sporting T-shirts bearing the name of Mrs. Mavis Hawa Koomson, the Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya East. These attackers mistakenly thought he was someone who had insulted the MP, which resulted in an unfair and unjustified attack.

Mr. Dwumfour has vehemently demanded that the NPP conduct a swift and thorough investigation into the attack, urging immediate sanctions for those responsible. Furthermore, he urged the Ghana Police Service to swiftly investigate the incident and ensure that the perpetrators of this egregious act face legal consequences. In addition, Mr. Dwumfour called for the appropriate disciplinary action against the police officer who had initially invited Mr. Kobbena before the assault, citing unprofessional conduct in the matter at hand.

Expressing deep concern and resolve, Mr. Dwumfour stressed that the GJA has conducted preliminary investigations, confirming the disturbing incident. He condemned the attack in the strongest possible terms and outlined a set of demands that need urgent attention and action. Notably, he mentioned that if these demands for sanctions are not met by the close of Friday, January 12, 2024, the GJA will be forced to take necessary action in response to this extreme act of aggression.
