Institutional Suppliers to Protest Against Education Ministry Over Unpaid Services

The National Association of Institutional Suppliers has announced their intention to hold a protest outside the Ministry of Education on March 4, 2024. The association claims that the ministry has consistently neglected their concerns, especially regarding contract awards and outstanding debts totaling over GH¢100 million.

The frustration stems from the government's failure to make payments for supplied uniforms, house dresses, and other essential items to numerous senior high schools over the past two academic years. Spokesperson Emmanuel Ayibor emphasized the association's determination to pursue all available avenues until their grievances are addressed.

Ayibor stated, “We have engaged extensively with the government on these issues, but we have yet to receive a response. If the government continues to ignore us, we will stage a protest on March 4 at the Ministry of Education. We have informed the police and are prepared to take action if necessary.”

The association is also urging the government to reconsider its approach to supply contracts for PE kits, uniforms, and stationery by returning control to the schools. They argue that current price quotas are insufficient and are advocating for a more sustainable solution.
